Just to expand on the Comic Con comments... McG explained during the panel announcements that the story takes place in 2018, several years before the Arnie T-800, so the bulkier T-600 in the trailer makes a lot of sense. McG also announced some other machines like "hydrobots" or something, and enormous "harvesters" that scour the land for human survivors.
Reminds me of those horrific harvester scenes in the Animatrix, with the machines prodding the guy's brain to make him laugh and cry. That shit gave me nightmares, yet I hope Salvation goes even further.
Also, McG confirmed that Jonathan Nolan - Christopher Nolan's brother - is the lead writer on Salvation. The dude wrote Memento, the Prestige (pretty good even though it tanked in the box office) and the Dark Knight. That's enough to convince me that it'll be f'ing awesome.
